Business Development Manager

The Uptrends company is headquartered in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, from which operations center we serve all our customers worldwide. However, to serve our US customers better and grow faster, we are currently seeking a Business Development Manager for the American market. This individual will be responsible for developing new opportunities and acquiring the customers needed to continue the rapid expansion of our customer base.

Job Description

The Business Development Manager USA, who will report directly to the CEO, is expected to prospect and develop new customer leads, introduce the Uptrends monitoring service and close the deal. This is a direct sales position that will generally be conducted via telephone and the Internet. The Business Development Manager will be expected to call into various groups within a prospective customer segment, particularly the IT and administrative strata, and will of course have the acumen required to understand their specific needs. Initially, you will work from home; however, with your proven success and ability to achieve the set goals, you will assume the responsibility of setting up the US sales office and organization.

Job Responsibilities

  • Generating leads, prospecting for new accounts and building relationships with potential customers using phone and Internet communications
  • Following up on leads, based on our customary free trial signup program
  • Developing, managing and deploying strategy for account sales
  • Developing new strategic accounts and growing an install base, thereby increasing the company’s market share
  • Yielding new prospects by initiating trial periods and service evaluations
  • Demonstrating system capabilities
  • Assessing and accurately forecasting based on monthly and quarterly projections
  • Providing sales support to assigned or converted accounts
  • Meeting defined quarterly goals/quotas

Job Requirements

  • Five plus years of sales experience (inside or outside)
  • A proven track record in software/software as a service sales (preferably three to five years)
  • An established business network (preferred but not essential)
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and the desire to work independently to meet stated goals
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • A BS/BA degree from an accredited college
  • Strong computer applications skills (Windows, MSOffice or Open Office, CRM, Internet applications)
  • A solid understanding of hosted Web-based solutions and the Web-hosting marketplace
  • The ability to calculate figures, multi-task and solve problems
