Uptrends expands global monitoring network in USA, Canada and Germany.

We are happy to inform you that the Uptrends network of monitoring stations expands again. We have added new checkpoints in Chicago, Toronto, Vancouver and Berlin. The IP numbers of the new checkpoints are:

• Chicago 209.172.192.7
• Toronto 66.11.155.242
• Vancouver 66.199.175.26
• Berlin 85.214.137.114

The new checkpoints will automatically appear in your settings. If you have selected random checkpoints, Uptrends will automatically add these checkpoints to the network. If not, you can add the checkpoints manually.

New protocols SQL and MySQL.

From now on you can also monitor SQL servers and MySQL servers with Uptrends. To monitor your database server, please do the following:

• Create a new probe in Account setup and fill in a unique name for the probe.
• Select probetype ‘MySQL’ or ‘Microsoft SQL Server’.
• Fill in the server’s IP number in the URL field, and change the default port number when needed.
• On the Advanced tab, fill in the username and password of a database login account. We strongly recommend using a non-administrator account for this. 
• Optionally, fill in the name of the database you want to monitor. If you do not specify a database, Uptrends will just attempt to log in, without connecting to a database.

Traceroute feature in alerts.

We recently introduced a new traceroute feature as part of the email alerts. In case of a network failure, Uptrends will automatically perform a traceroute to your website or server, using the checkpoint that detected the failure. The traceroute report will automatically be added to your email alerts, allowing you to analyze the network failure. If you do not wish the traceroute reports to be included in the network failure email alerts, you can switch off this option in the escalation levels of your alert definitions.

New tools. Analyze DNS and traceroute.

We already offered the Check URL tool as part of the Uptrends service. This allows you to perform an on-the-spot verification of an arbitrary web page, using all our checkpoints at once. Uptrends now introduces two new tools, which you can use to analyze the performance of your website or server.

The new traceroute tool helps you to analyze the network performance of the network between our checkpoints and a specific domain or server. Only Uptrends offers the ability to perform this traceroute query from any of its checkpoints, distributed across the world. This allows you to focus on network connection problems in specific parts of the world.

The new DNS tool lets you extensively analyze the status of a specific domain name. The DNS analysis report includes DNS records of the domain's name servers, web and mail records.
