How Uptrends Insight works.

Offer each customer their own uptime monitoring account.

As a hosting company, design agency or organization you can sign up for an Uptrends Insight monitoring service. You can select how many websites or servers you want to monitor for your clients. For each client, you can create a unique login and add one or more probes to monitor a website or server. A probe represents the continuous monitoring of one website or server. Pricing is based on the number of probes you will need, but the choice of whether to charge your clients is up to you. You can create as many accounts for your clients as you want.

Web performance monitoring is critical for your clients to reduce costly downtime. You can select any combination of checkpoints across North America, Europe, Africa, Australia and Asia. The default method is for the checkpoints to verify your website or server in random order. They will attempt to access your service and wait for a response. If you prefer, you will also have the option of excluding any particular checkpoints. Read more about our advanced worldwide checkpoints network.

If your client's website or server responds correctly to one of our global checkpoints, we will report that the website or server is properly working. If your client's website or server responds incorrectly to one of our checkpoints, another checkpoint will then attempt to access the service. If it responds incorrectly to this checkpoint as well, we will report that the service is not working properly.

Uptrends will take a screenshot of the error anytime a site failure occurs so that you can see precisely what your visitors, customers and/or end-users are seeing. The Uptrends central database will immediately send an alert to the user-specified list of contacts you have indicated on your control panel, and will inform them why the site or server has ceased working properly. These system alerts can be sent via e-mail, RSS, instant messaging or SMS messaging. Uptrends uses various SMS message providers based across North America and Europe.

Alerts can be routed to different teams during off-duty hours, such as evenings or weekends, and you can choose how and when each operator is to be notified. For example, you can indicate yourself as the first alert recipient, so that after a certain time has elapsed a specific co-worker will be alerted. Or, you could indicate that SMS messaging alerts should be sent to the technical department and e-mail reports should be sent to the marketing department or management. Each alert notification will include the local date and time, the reason for the failure, and the name of the website or server. Unlimited contacts can be added to your escalation settings.

If your service remains down, additional alerts will be sent to remind your contacts that the service isn't working correctly.

Our checkpoints will continue to attempt to visit your website or service in order to determine its status. Once the service responds correctly to this checkpoint, it will report that the service is working properly again. Our central database will then send a message to indicate that the service is back in order.

The results are stored in our data archive. Your log files will be kept for up to 90 days, but there is no limit regarding the historical data of your reports. Based on the data archive, Uptrends provides detailed online interactive reports regarding the page load time, errors, resolve time and uptime, all based on Web 2.0 technology. So, your online reports will refresh quickly and automatically. We can automatically send you and your co-workers daily, weekly or monthly scheduled e-mail reports, and the Uptrends Enterprise edition has an operations cockpit that automatically indicates the uptime status throughout the day.
