The first step in setting up your alerts involves configuring the conditions in which an alert is sent. In this lesson you will learn about the types of available error conditions, and how to configure the error conditions with individual monitors.
What is an error condition?
An error condition consists of a series of changeable parameters associated with a monitor that triggers the sending of an alert. Please note that the conditions available for configuration will change based on the monitor type being used.
For instance, an HTTP (Availability) monitor type lets you set load time limits, minimum byte size, and a page content match, whereas a Full Page Check (Performance) monitor type lets you set additional conditions such as minimum/maximum byte size, ignore external element, and alert when a percentage of page elements fail.
What condition options are there?
We have grouped the condition options based on the available monitor types below.
You may find that you want to tweak these options over time, and that is okay! We suggest you play around with them and find a balance that is right for you and your team.

How to configure an error condition
Configuring an error condition is a quick process that can be done when building a monitor from scratch or by editing a monitor after it has already been added.
- Assuming that you have already created the monitor, go to on the main menu, and select .
- You will now see a series of monitors associated with your account. Select the one you wish to add an error condition to.
- Now click on the tab labeled Error Conditions. You will be presented with a series of condition options, which you can configure as you see fit.
- Once you are done, click the button.
