Everything is cool when you’re part of a team – and in this lesson you’ll discover how to create new operators and operator groups so that everyone is on the same page regarding the status of your monitors.

What is an operator?

An operator is a user that resides within an Uptrends account. There are two classes of operator: administrator, and operator.

Each operator receives their own login credentials, and can easily be added to operator groups, duty rosters, and alert definitions.

How do I add an operator?

  1. To add an operator, click the + Add Operator button beneath the Account dropdown on the Main Menu.
  2. You can now add your new operator’s e-mail address, password, full name, backup e-mail address, mobile phone number (start with a + sign and your country code, followed by the number with no dashes or spaces), and duty status. It is also possible to set the operator’s duty schedule on the Duty Schedules tab.
  3. Once you are done configuring your operator, click the Save button.

What is an operator group?

An operator group contains a series of individual operators that share common access to monitor and alert definitions. Think of them as a way of quickly assigning similar settings to multiple operators.

How do I add an operator group?

  1. To add an operator group, click the + Add Operator Group button via the Account dropdown on the Main Menu.
  2. You will now be able to name your operator group and assign individual operators to the group.
  3. Once you have added the operators you wish to be in the group, click the Save button.

Another lesson down, one more to go! (In this course anyway.)
