Adding a monitor

A monitor represents the URL, server, or web service that Uptrends checks for uptime and performance. We offer a variety of monitor types to meet your monitoring needs. To start monitoring, log into your Uptrends account and create a monitor.

Create a monitor

To create a new monitor, start by navigating Uptrends using the left-side menu. You’ll find setup options under Monitoring and Synthetics, depending on your use case.

Monitoring menu

Use this path to configure a wide range of monitor types (for example, HTTPS, Ping, DNS, Real user monitoring (RUM), and others).

  1. Go to Monitoring > Monitor setup +.
  2. Select a monitor type and click Choose.
  3. Configure the monitor settings according to your monitoring requirements.
  4. Click Save to confirm your monitor settings.

Uptime monitor setup

  1. Go to Uptime > Uptime monitors setup +.
  2. Select a monitor type and click Choose.
  3. Configure the monitor settings according to your monitoring requirements.
  4. Click Save to confirm your monitor settings.

Browser monitor setup

  1. Go to Browser > Browser monitors setup +.
  2. Configure the monitor settings according to your monitoring requirements.
  3. Click Save to confirm your monitor settings.

Transaction monitor setup

  1. Go to Transaction > Transactions setup +.

  2. Select the setup option based on your preference:

    a. Install the ITRS Uptrends Transaction Recorder — this option lets you install a browser extension, which automatically records the user journey and creates a ready-to-use transaction monitor.

    b. Go to the transaction editor — this option allows you to either create a transaction monitor from scratch using the default configuration, or begin with a ready-made, fully functional example that you can customize and test right away. Just click Help me choose and select Build from scratch or Try a ready-made example.

  3. Configure other monitor settings according to your monitoring requirements.

  4. Click Save to confirm your monitor settings.

API monitor setup

  1. Go to API > API monitors setup +.
  2. Select a monitor type. If you choose Multi-step API, select any of the following options:
  • Build from scratch — use the default configuration to setup your monitor.
  • Try a ready-made example — jumpstart your setup with a ready-made, fully functional example that you can modify and test right away.
  1. Click Choose.
  2. Configure the monitor settings according to your monitoring requirements.
  3. Click Save to confirm your monitor settings.
