HTTPS monitor overview

We’re changing our user interface. Some info may not yet be up to date. Please check From classic to new UI.

The HTTPS monitor type checks for the availability of a web page secured by an SSL certificate. The monitor includes all of the checks and options you get with HTTP monitoring including:

  • Page load times,
  • Minimum page size,
  • Content matching,
  • HTTPS status code,
  • user agent specification,
  • User authentication, and
  • Custom HTTPS requests and posts.

You also get SSL certificate error monitoring.

SSL certificate error monitoring

Invalid and expired SSL certificate warnings turn away users. By leaving the Check SSL certificate errors check box selected (the default) on the Advanced tab, you can trigger alerts if your certificate ever returns an error. Although this check doesn’t have all of the features of the SSL Certificate Monitor, this simple check could save your website’s reputation and prevent lost revenue.

Note: The HTTPS monitor type will only download the HTML content of a page. It does not include any images, scripts, or interactive elements that the page may contain (learn more). If you need to check the complete content of a web page, we suggest you consider the Full Page Check monitor type.
